Syntax: From 3 to 63 alphanumeric characters or a hyphen (other than in first or last position).
IDN: No
Registration period: from 1 to 10 years max.
Subdomains available: Yes : .co.in, .net.in, .org.in, .firm.in, .gen.in, ind.in (individuals)

Procedures

Renewal: Renewal of a .IN extends the duration of a domain name by 1 to 5 years.

Change of owner: The current procedure allows one to yield a domain name to a third party at Gandi or another Registrar.
Change of Registrar: You must begin the process at your new registrar. A confirmation e-mail will be sent (FOA) to the e-mail address of the current owner of the domain. On average the processing time for this procedure can take from 1 to 10 days.
