Attribution: Since March 2004, everyone who may be identified online in the INPI and INSEE Greffes database may register a .RE domain name. The right to a name ended in May 2004,
The .RE ccTLD is not available to individuals
Syntax: from 3 (excl 2 letters) to 63 alphanumeric characters or a hyphen (excluding in the first and last place)
IDN: Not available at present
Registration period: 1 year maximum
Subdomains available: No

Procedures

Renewal: Renewal of a .RE domain name reactivates it for one year.

Change of owner: The current procedure is for a fee (see Gandi’s rates). It allows one to yield a domain name to a third party at Gandi or another Registrar. An e-mail is sent by AFNIC to the former owner to confirm the change. An ownership changes the expiration date of the domain by adding one year from the date of the ownership change.
Change of Registrar: You must begin the process with your new registrar, the time needed for this procedure depends upon the acceptance of your former registrar; it takes a maximum of 6 weeks. A change of Registrar causes one to loose prepaid months existing on the domain. The subscription period will be one year beginning from the date that the domain is registered with the new owner.
