Normal Gandi DNS Management Interface

You are invited to use our "normal" DNS zone file interface by default. This interface presents you with a table that contains all the records in your zone file:

Each row corresponds to a record in your file that can be edited or removed, and of course, you can add additional records if you wish. Don't worry though if you make a mistake, you can always rollback to a previous version of the zone file!

Below is a description of each column:

"Name": This is the name of the record entry (subdomain name, wildcard, www. etc...),

"Type": This is the type of the record entry. At present, the normal interface accepts the following record types:

  • A (Address)
This is the most common resource record. It enables associating an IP address to a name.
  • AAAA (Address IPv6)
This is a new record that is used for IP addresses in the IPv6 format.
  • CNAME (Cannonical Name)
This record enables a domain name to be used as an alias for another name.
  • MX (Mail eXchanger)
This record indicates the name of a mail server associated with a domain name.
  • TXT (Text)
This record allows a chain of characters to be stored in one's DNS.
  • WKS (Well known services)
A WKS record is a list of servers that provide known services such as HTTP or POP3.
    SRV (SeRVice record)
A SRV record corresponds to a record of information on services that are available (defined in RFC 2782).

"Data": This is the information that corresponds to the record (ex. IP address of the server, name of the mail servers, etc.),

"Aux": This number is the priority number given by you to the mail servers,

"TTL": (Time to Live), this is how long the server is allowed to cache (store) the data before updating,

The last two columns (the pencil and the big orange X) are unrelated to the data of the record, and are there just to allow you to either edit or delete the record in question.
