Configuring Gandi Mail for Apple Mail

In order to use Gandi Mail to send and receive e-mail using Apple's "Mail", you need to configure the program correctly.

There are 2 different configurations, depending on what you would like to to:
  • Create a POP3 account: This will allow Apple Mail to go and get e-mail from the mail server and download them to your computer (classic e-mail use).
  • Create an IMAP account: This allows Apple Mail to get e-mails from the mail server without deleting the messages from the server (webmail use)
In addition, you may configure Apple Mail so that it can send e-mail from Gandi's e-mail server (configuration of the e-mail sending server (SMTP)). This configuration is necessary for both the POP3 and IMAP services, unless you already have a mail server defined.

In the large majority of cases, one uses an incoming service and an outgoing service such as either POP3 & SMTP or IMAP & SMTP (the coupling of POP3 & IMAP would not be of much use for the same account :)
