Answers to Your Questions
How can I configure my domain to work with Gmail's 'Gmail for your domain' service?
IMPORTANT NOTE: All the set-up for your e-mail must be done on Google's side BEFORE proceeding with the following. If you have been accepted by Google to participate in the beta version of the "Gmail for your domain" service, you need to change the MX records of your domain so that you can route e-mail via your domain to Gmail's servers.
If you are using Gandi's DNS please follow the following procedure to properly configure your MX records:
1. Switch to our custom DNS (if you are not already using them). Our custom DNS are:
Primary server: a.dns.gandi.net
Secondary server: b.dns.gandi.net
NS3: c.dns.gandi.net
To do this, please log into your control panel, select the domain to modify (if you have several) and look at the "Technical Settings" section of the page, where you will find the link, Manage DNS zone file. When you click on that link, you will be taken to the page where you can modify the content of your zone via two interfaces: simple or expert.
2. Select "expert"
3. In the "Bind Zone" field you see on the page, delete in first the Gandi's MX reccords and so enter the following, exactally as you see it:
@ 28800 IN MX 1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. @ 28800 IN MX 3 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. @ 28800 IN MX 3 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. @ 28800 IN MX 5 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. @ 28800 IN MX 5 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. @ 28800 IN MX 5 ASPMX4.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. @ 28800 IN MX 5 ASPMX5.GOOGLEMAIL.COM.
4. click on "Submit".
You will then see the following message:
In order to use Gandi's custom DNS, please click on the "submit" button below. This will change your DNS to a.dns.gandi.net and b.dns.gandi.net and c.dns.gandi.net allowing you to use your personalized zone file configuration.
5. Click "Submit" to accept the change.
The change you made to your DNS record will take several hours to take affect, and so you should wait at least 6 hours before using it.
