Answers to Your Questions
What is the outgoing transfer process ?
You wish to transfer your domain name from Gandi to another registrar.
Minimum registration period
If your domain is less than 60 days old, it cannot yet be transferred. This is an ICANN rule, which applies to all registrars
.Expiration
First you should check that your domain is not expired, nor expiring soon. You can find the expiration date in the Whois database. If you need to renew, please wait 46 days between the renewal and the outgoing transfer. This delay warrants you that the one year renewal and the one year transfer will add up (for more on this, please see the ICANN Advisory, dated 6 June 2002).
Authorization code
For .COM, .NET, .BIZ, .INFO, .NAME and .ORG domain names, you will need an authorization key. You will find it on our website by clicking on the concerned domain name (Identify as the administrative contact or as the owner of the domain. On the domain details page, you will be able to obtain the Authorization key.
Protection
Then check if your domain is currently protected against transfers (status LOCK or Transfer Prohibited). If relevant, unlock the domain for transfer (You need to be administrative contact to do that). After unlocking a .COM or .NET, it is best to wait for the Whois update (24-48 hours) before proceeding to the next step.
Process at the future registrar
Next, follow the gaining registrar's procedure. You have nothing to pay at Gandi. Authorize the transfer according to your current registrar's procedures.
Process at Gandi
For your information, the contacts of the domain will receive an email notice from Gandi. This email will look like: IMPORTANT: Transfer of ... to another registrar.
For .COM .NET .ORG .INFO .BIZ .NAME domain names: in our message you will find a link, which can be used to speed or to stop the transfer. Your action will be applied immediately. If you do not use the link, the transfer will proceed after a 5-day delay.Customer Care
