We don't have to tell you that healthcare is a hot button issue these days. We will happily sidestep that issue to tell you about something that isn't all over the headlines — on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at 9:00 AM PDT, .hospital will be available for all (no insurance required. Or accepted, really) in the GoLive phase.

Domains in the .hospital extension will be available for $63.11 per year at A rates* starting 9:00 AM Wednesday, so now's your last chance to get your .hospital GoLive registration in beforehand. Then .hospital domains are available for this price thereafter.

The market for four TLDs is looking pretty good. As of March 6, 2017, four finance-related TLDs have been looking bearish (though that's no indicator of poor health in general). Which is good if you're thinking of investing in one of these TLDs.

Boston Ivy, the registry for all four, has lowered prices permanently, and by significant amounts. Here's a look at the price change per year:

We're never excited to bring you this kind of news, but in this case the change is so significant that we feel a special sense of urgency to get you this information as soon as possible.

Beginning August 21, 2017 at midnight UTC (keep in mind: that's 5:00 PM PDT on August 20), prices on sixteen TLDs managed by Uniregistry will be increasing, in some cases by very significant amounts.

We do not have the final pricing yet but we do know the rough percentage increases on each TLD:

These increase will apply to all operations on these domains, so if you've always wanted one of these domains, now is the time to get it. If you have one already and it's not renewed up to the maximum registration period (10 years on all of these), now is the time to top it off. And if you have your domain registered elsewhere and want to consolidate your portfolio at Gandi, now's the time to transfer it. As you can see from the list above, the savings could be significant.

Five is one of those special numbers. Five fingers on one hand. Five senses. It's like it's programmed into our consciousness.

Maybe that helps explain why this promo is so appealing. Starting March 1, five TLDs — .loan, .cricket, .accountant, .faith, and .science — are on sale for just $5.00* per year, both to create and to renew.

Five TLDs, five dollars apiece.

Two TLDs are entering the Sunrise phase, one of them is an online haven for free and open journalism, the other is a home online for those selling homes in real life.

The Sunrise phase for .observer and .realty, beginning February 16 and running until April 17, 2017, is the time for those with TMCH registrations to register their trademark for $2059.69* before these TLDs open to the general public.

If you don't own a trademark or at least aren't registered with TMCH, you can still get your .observer or .realty domain in priority during the Landrush period between April 23 and April 24 for $107.74*.

Otherwise, both .observer and .realty will enter the GoLive phase on April 24 at 7:00 AM PDT, when anyone can register one for $15.56 per year at A rates*. Remember: you can register a domain in Landrush or GoLive before these TLDs enter those phases and we will submit the order as soon as that phase opens.

So whether it's to create a safe home for journalism or provide safe homes for people, now is the time to get your .observer and .realty domains.

From its inception in 2008 until now, the new gTLD .tel has differentiated itself from the others in part through the way in which it is used.

In particular — until now at least — .tel domains were required to be used to establish, in some way or other, a link between the web and a cellphone.

This special restriction on .tel domains will be disappearing this March 13, 2017 at midnight UTC (that is, 4:00 PM PST on March 12). That means that starting then, .tel domains can be used just like any other TLD.

It also means that content currently hosted on .tel domains will be removed on that date with no possibility of recovery. So current owners of .tel domains should be sure to export their data through the process described below before that date. Here's how:

  1. Connect to the TELNIC site and log in. Your username and password are those assigned to you by TELNIC when you created your .tel domain. If you lost them, you can recover them online.
  2. Make a copy of your virtual directory by clicking the "settings" (at the top of the page) and then in the pop-out window, by clicking on "Save / Restore a domain". You will then receive a .xml file containing all the contact information for your .tel domain.

Starting March 13 at midnight UTC, TELNIC will provide you with a new interface with which you can import this .xml file to your .tel domain.

Then, you are free to do as you like with your .tel domain. Maybe a Wordpress site?
