It's a great time to be a designer of any kind, really. It's no coincidence that this coincides with the Internet really coming into it's own. With everyone from huge multi-national corporations down to tiny Mom and Pops (and, yes, also literally your mom and your pop) in need of a website, design is in high demand.

Starting January 1 until February 15, 2016, we're making it a bit easier for designers by offering .design domains for half-price: that's $31.18 instead of the normal $62.36.

This is your chance to show off your design skills with a site on a domain that speaks to your calling as a designer. If you're new to the game, get a .design domain to throw some ideas online. Or if you're already an established designer, consolidate your online portfolio in a place that says unambiguously what you're all about.

This January, we are offering a promotion dedicated to a new wave of artists, journalists, and documentarians enabled by the power of digital technology and the Internet with a great 80% off deal on .photo domains.

Remember (it wasn't so long ago, after all) when you had to go get your pictures developed? You actually had to go to a store, give them all your film, and pay to get the pictures back. If you went on a vacation, you'd have to wait until you were back home and then another twenty-four hours just to see the pictures you take.

Now, with high-quality, dSLR cameras, you can take high-resolution digital images and upload them from an internet café to your blog, to social media, wherever. And photojournalists can beam you real-time images from news when and where it's happening in stunning color and resolution. And we couldn't be more behind this creative and journalistic empowerment of the average person. And, yes, selfies.

So this month might as well be dedicated to this new wave of photographers, because .photo domains will be 80% off from January 1 through January 31, 2016, that's $6.50 per year instead of the normal $32.49.

Connections are important. In the past decade or so, social networks have proven that point astonishingly well, as though it needed to be proven. But it's something we know is even deeper at the heart of the Internet as well: connecting people, yes, but also connecting networks, connecting machines, or even just connecting a website to a domain name.

This January, connecting is a little easier. From January 1 until January 31, 2016, .link, the TLD made to connect, will be on sale for an incredible 80% off. That means, a .link domain that normally costs $12.02 will be available for just $2.41 per year.

It's a busy time of year, we get it. There's a lot of running around getting last minute gifts, travelling to be with family, and, of course, celebrating various wintertime festivities but we suggest thinking about the future. The classic generic TLDs of the past are slowly getting more and more saturated. The future is in .xyz. While most new gTLDs focus on specific niches, .xyz is for anyone and is becoming the go-to alternative gTLD. So before the ball drops and 2015 goes down with a champagne toast, remember to take advantage of our great $5.00 promotion on .xyz (normally $13.63), this deal only lasts until 4:00 PM PST on December 31st.

To be honest, it kind of bugs us that there are those who only think about Ireland and the .irish on St. Patrick's Day. As a result, all they know about either is shamrocks and leprechaun, "luck-o-the-Irish" and beer that's dyed green.

Well, we couldn't be further from St. Patrick's Day, but we want to show our love for all things .Irish just to spite the types we talked about above. Domains in the .irish extension are available until November 10 December 31, 2015 February 29, 2016 for just $15.00, versus the normal $47.82 at A rates.

So there's no better time than now to get one. Let the ones who only ever think of the Irish in March pay full-price.

A new promotion from the Minds + Machines Registry means 50-75% off until 23:59 UTC on December 31, 2015 January 31, 2016 some TLDs that compliment each other well.

Minds + Machines has a whole suite of interrelated TLDs. You might call this kind of relationship synergy, which is a word the square community uses to mean "works well together." Not being squares ourselves, we prefer to think of these TLDs like fine wines. In that spirit, we created a pairing guide for this promotion.

Here's a sample:

.beer
Pairs well with:
- .cooking for beer-bread and beer-battered onion rings
- .garden for bench-seating and Oktoberfest
- .rodeo for American-flag t-shirts
- .surf for beach parties
Do not pair with:
- .vodka, no .beer before liquor …

.cooking
Pairs well with:
- .garden for vegetarians
- .vodka for pasta sauce
Do not pair with:
- .horse (unless you are French)

.fashion
Pairs well with:
- .fishing for rubber overalls
- .garden for breezy summer outfits and string-light illuminated cocktail parties
Do not pair with:
- .rodeo

But our favorite is .horse
Pairs well with:
- .rodeo for obvious reasons
- .fishing for horseback casting
- .surf for those who hang four (horse don't have toes)
- .vodka but only for Russian equestrians
and the recommendation of the house:
- .yoga for Horse Yoga

Here's the whole list of TLDs included in this promotion, in alphabetical order, of all the TLDs on sale with their promotional prices per year (each is normally available for $38.34) in A rates :

There's now a dividing line slicing right through the heart of our existence. It's the line between here and there, public and private, anonymous and nonymous (we guess?) online and offline.

Dividing and slicing and cutting is all well and good but we like to bridge. So starting December 15, 2015 and lasting until 3:59 PM PST on January 14, 2016 (bridging the new year), .online, the ideal TLD for bridging that divide between offline and online, is on sale for 80%-off for first-year domain creations.

That means we put a line right through the normal price of $51.67 per year at A rates for .online domains: for the next month they'll be just $10.33 for first-year creations.

This year was a year of some once in a lifetime opportunities. Like the blood moon. There were way more of those this year than ever. Well, 2016 has at least one once in a lifetime opportunity in store: a golden opportunity to get discounted renewal rates on .website domains.

You may ask yourself: "How do I redeem this?"

Same as it ever was. Just renew the domain name selecting either one-year for the renewal period if you want 30%-off or anywhere between two-to-nine years (remember, a .website domain name cannot be registered for longer than 10 years) for 50%-off.

Update 01/14/16: This promotion lasts until March 31, 2016 at 23:59 UTC.

It's not secret the internet has become a desperate battle for clicks. It is survival of the clickiest and this unnatural selection has resulted in some pretty bizarre mutations: click-bait articles for one but also, of course, listicles (unfortunately not a frozen treat ... yet).

Honestly, we're not the listicle types, but in deference to its almighty power, we decided to compile a list of the Top Reasons to get a .top domain this December:

1. It's Chinese for breakthrough

So not only is it a strong, powerful TLD in English, but in Chinese as well.

Also, you know, globalization and stuff.

2. No better way to show your love for blouses and spinning things

The domain halter.top is already taken but the field is wide-open for other tops, and that's not to mention the little gyroscope thingies.

3. A .top top-level domain is, like, so meta

It's like the movie Inception in domain form.

4. .top just celebrated its one-year anniversary

On November 17, 2014, .top entered the GoLive phase, and so this past month it celebrated its one-year birthday.

5. It's on sale for just $1.29 until December 31, 2015 February 1, 2016 at 4:00 PM PST.

So you don't have to pay top dol--no, sorry, no we can't bring ourselves to make a pun that bad.
