Entering Sunrise .soccer, .movie, .coupons because ‘Murica

Today’s batch of new gTLDs entering the Sunrise phase until August 15 have us feeling patriotic (not for France but the good ol’ US of A) because we feel these gTLDs are some of what we do best: soccer (our own version of “football”), movies and coupons.

Soccer fans outside of North America may be quickly buying up .football (which just entered GoLive this month). For those of us who know football is played with your hands, .soccer is now entering the Sunrise phase.

While we confess there’s some great cinema from outside of the US (hat tip to French cinema in particular), it’s a material fact that the US film industry has made the most money year after year for almost a century than any national cinema in the world (number 1! number 1!…), so we’re excited to announce that .movie is also entering the Sunrise phase.

Finally, it’s also a material fact that consumer spending in the US constitutes one of the highest percentages of GDP in the entire world as well (we won’t speculate if that has anything to do with movies). When it comes to consumption, the US reigns supreme, and we couldn’t have done it without our trusted coupon books. We remember fondly cutting coupons out of newspapers and buying only the on-sale items each week at the grocery store. Not surprisingly, coupons have been making the leap to the online world and now .coupons is entering the Sunrise phase as well (but we’ll understand if you just have to wait until it’s on sale).

These extensions will be in Sunrise until August 15 and will then be in the Landrush phase from August 23 to August 26 before finally entering the GoLive phase on August 26.

The list is below, accompanied by the corresponding Sunrise, Landrush and GoLive prices of a one-year registration, all at A rates:

  • .soccer: $154.63 | $176.23 | $27.05
  • .movie: $356.59 | $378.19 | $270.19
  • .coupons$176.23 | $197.83 | $68.09
