Go to the new Gandi

Sometimes it seems like it would be fun to live a double life: "By day, a mild-mannered domain name registrar, by night Gandi fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the Internet way!"

Maybe we got a little carried away there but it's all to introduce two new gTLDs that also live a double life:

By day, .live and .studio are great for television, radio, or even Internet broadcasting (perhaps producing that new superhero idea we just had in front of a .live .studio audience), by night, they .live in a .studio in an up-and-coming neighborhood.

These two gTLDs are now entering the Sunrise phase, during which they will each be available for $167.59 per year.

They will enter the Landrush phase October 25, during which they'll be available for $178.39 per year and then on October 28, they will enter the GoLive phase, when they'll be available for $31.15 per year. All those prices, of course, were cited at A rates.

As many of you may be aware, after ICANN's decision to release a number of domains previously prohibited as potential name collision domains, Donuts has been slowly rolling out a series of these domains under their Early Access Program rubric, each week picking a new theme. It's like Theme Thursdays but on Wednesday instead.

This week's theme is dedicated to those jobs which can never be outsourced overseas: Services. Which is why they are being slowly swallowed by the sharing economy instead: so you can outsource from the comfort of your own city.

The rollout schedule for this category will be the following:
    Day 1 (August 12, 2015 at 16:00 UTC): +$12,667

    Day 2 (August 13, 2015 at 16:00 UTC): +$4,222
    Day 3 (August 14, 2015 at 16:00 UTC): +$1,778
    Day 4 (August 15, 2015 at 16:00 UTC): +$945
    Days 5-7 (August 16-18, 2015 at 16:00 UTC): +$189

Here's a list of extensions in this week's theme with links to the spreadsheets listing the domains available in these extensions. The normal A rate prices are listed along:

No this is not the voice of your teacher or tutor or legal guardian admonishing you for not studying, this is nothing more than the announcement of a new gTLD coming available: .study.

This is great not just for promoting good scholastic habits, but you can lend yourself an air of scientificity (just like making up words can) not to mention seriousness by registering yourself or your project your own .study domain.

Domains in this extension are currently available in the Sunrise phase for $183.79 per year at A rates. On October 14 at 9:00 AM PDT they will then become available in the GoLive phase for $41.41 per year at A rates. There will be no Landrush  phase.

It's tempting to think that .game is for those who don't take life seriously, who see everything as a game, but then we challenge you to think about all the people you know who might be interested in this extension and you'll soon realize that no, .game is serious business. Especially during the Sunrise phase. This phase is for those who hold trademarked names, and who filed TMCH claims that might apply to this extension. That's pretty serious planning, there.  Add to that the fact that these domains will be priced at $349.03 per year at A rates in the Sunrise phase, and you can tell, this is for those who make games their serious business.

For those of you who take games a little less seriously, maybe you'll have to hold off until this extension enters the GoLive phase on October 7 (there will be no Landrush), when it will be available for a significantly less serious $47.57 per year.

Last month we announced that .date, .faith, and .review were entering the GoLive phase, and we suggested that these extensions would be great for lovers of commitment: commitment to a relationship (.date), commitment to a religion, or just anyone really (.faith) and commitment to self-improvement (.review), but we have been informed that for some reason many people have an irrational fear of commitment.

Well, we hope that just mentioning the word didn't scare those of you who fall into this category off this page, because we have good news for you. These three extensions: .date, .faith, and .review are all available now for literally the lowest possible dollar commitment we can imagine: just $1.00 per year. We commit more to a Thursday happy hour beer than the financial commitment involved in purchasing one of these domains until Tuesday October 13 at 8:00 AM PDT. So why not give it a shot?

Don't miss out on this handful of domains entering GoLive now. These skipped right over the Landrush phase on their way to GoLive.

We suppose .racing and .win were in too much of a hurry to Landrush, being hasty creatures themselves, and certainly we prefer faster .download speeds to slow ones but a quick .loan? A hurried .accountant? The financial wisdom our parents at least attempted to bequeath us screams in protest!

But then we realized: by skipping Landrush, all the good domains that didn't have a trademark are all still available in these extensions. That's not reckless accounting, that's a wizard .accountant. And a quick .loan? Better than needing a loan to get one …

Each of these gTLDs will be available now at A rates for $41.37 per year.

A few weeks ago we announced the the Sunrise phases for .taipei, feeling as though it was a good omen for our new ventures in Taipei.

Time has flown and the first  Landrush phase is now already closed, and the second Landrush phase is set to begin August 6 and end August 14.

We wanted to clarify that when we predict three more Landrush phases, we were not forecasting a landslide. As earth-shaking as this announcement is, we know, there's no evidence that it relates in any way to seismic activity in the San Francisco Bay Area, or for that matter, in Taipei itself.

There are also two more Landrush phases after that:

- Landrush 3 (August 18 - August 26)
- Landrush 4 (August 27 - September 2)

Authorities are advising that the public remain calm and hold out until the GoLive phase on September 9.

What with having opened our US office in the literal capital of tech (seriously, is anyone lobbying the City to put an actual Capitol dome on top of the Moscone Center yet?) in San Francisco, and our history of collaboration with great tech projects, the fact that .tech is now entering the GoLive phase gives us good feelings.

We've seen so many TLDs come and go targeted for specific communities, but .tech is the TLD for our home turf, the tech community.

Not only that, but .tech domains will be available from Wednesday August 5 at 9:00 AM PDT until October 5 for a reduced price of $19.99 at A rates (versus $60.79 otherwise). So the time to get on this bandwagon is now, while it's is still hot (are bandwagons hot? We can't say we've ever literally been on a bandwagon. With all those people always getting on them, though, they must be).

We are standing in front of this bookshelf full of red and black legal books to tell you that if you've been injured in any kind of minor fender bender or intentional collision, you may be entitled to one of the TLDs entering the Sunrise phase: .abogado, .law, and .miami.

Look, you can throw your money out the window messing around with some paralegal paper-pusher type or you can register your domains with us.

Well, actually ... it's all a sham. These legal books aren't real. See? Just cardboard. We just wanted to dress up like lawyers and feel more important. And we made up the thing about injuries. In the Sunrise phase, these extensions are available to those holding TMCH claims for the names they want to register.

The .abogado and .law extensions have been in the Sunrise phase since July 30 and will be there until September 28. There will be a three-day Landrush from October 16 through 19 and they will finally enter the GoLive phase on October 19 at 9:00 AM PDT.

The .abogado extension has been helping us brush up on our Spanish and that, and the tan we've been cultivating for the beach are both real, to help promote the other extension in the Sunrise phase today: .miami.  But when isn't Miami in the sun? Of course, this extension is for all things Miami: from salsa music and mojitos to Will Smith songs. From July 20 until September 18, .miami will be in the Sunrise phase. There won't be any Landrush phase for .miami and the extension will GoLive October 2 at 9:00 AM PDT.

The list is below, accompanied by the corresponding Sunrise, Landrush and Golive prices of a one-year registration, all at A rates:

Nope, not a typo. This promotion is for .co.com, normally $40.34 at A rates.

The .com extension is like the Internet's largest city. It's noisy, loud, expensive, and all the good places are already taken.

Well, .co.com is like the suburbs of .com: a little further out, a little less crowded … You can get the domain name you want without having to worry about it already being taken. It's the kind of place where you can build a nice site, plenty of namespace to raise some kids and give them their own subdomains when they're old enough to drive.

And while moving to the 'burbs (even the domain name 'burbs) can be an expensive proposition, when you move out to Gandidale--the name we're giving to our cul-de-sac of .co.com domains--in the next 90 days (that is, if you buy a .co.com domain), you'll be able to get it for $14.99 per year, whether you want to try out the neighborhood for just one year or invest in a new multi-year registration (hopefully you won't have to put down a mortgage), at all price rates.

The promotion starts at midnight UTC on August 1 (so July 31 at 5:00 PM PDT) and ends at 23:59 UTC on October 31 (or 4:59 PM PDT. Sorry West Coast, you can't use this promotion to give out .co.com candy for Halloween).

So join the urban flight from the crowded .com downtown where you can't find a parking page to save your life and come live the good life out in sunny .co.com.
