New rules from January 1st 2022
Starting from January 1st, 2022, the registrant must provide its registration certificate/business license or ID document before to be able to register, renew, transfer or change the ownership of domain names. Otherwise, the above-mentioned operations can not be performed.
The registrant data of a domain name already registered must be validated by the Registry before that date, otherwise you will no longer be able to renew, transfer or change the ownership of your domain name.

Accreditation: Gandi has been accredited by CNNIC since January 2015.
Terms and Conditions
Assigning: .cn domain names are open to everyone. The provision of company/organization certificate or ID document is mandatory.
Syntax: From 2 to 63 alphanumeric characters or a hyphen (excluding in the first and last place).
IDN (accented domain name): Yes.
Registration period: 1 to 10 years.
Second-level extensions: .com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn and China province SLDs.
Registration: The registration requires the sending of supporting document, so that the Registry can verify the identity of the domain name's owner, before to process to the registration.
- Legal persons out of China: a copy of corporate documentation showing that the registrant is a registered legal entity (e.g. certificate of incorporation, business license).
- Chinese legal persons: a copy of the business registration certificate, business license, or organizations license. The scanned file of the original document must be in color.
- Individuals out of China: a copy of the registrant passport.
- China-based individuals: a copy of the registrant Chinese national ID card or residence permit.
The organization or individual name as specified in the owner contact must match exactly with the name listed on the organization/business certificate or ID document.
The document must be sent to Gandi by email to email@example.com. Please ensure the file is in .jpg format and less than 1MB in size, otherwise your request cannot be processed.
Gandi will then submit the document to the Registry and your registration will be processed after the Registry confirmed the verification of the document.
This verification is also applicable before any transfer and owner change to be effectively processed.
Note: if you are located in China, the name of the owner contact must be in PINYIN and if you would like to host any related services of your domain name in China, an ICP (Internet Content Provider) license is required.
Renewal: Up to 30 days after the expiration date.
Transfer (change of Registrar): The process is started on the new registrar's interface with an auth code. Ensure that your domain does not have a TransferProhibited status, will not expire in less than 15 days and is older than 60 days. The transfer must be confirmed by email and renews the domain name for one year.
Change of Ownership: Available on our interface, the procedure consists in email confirmation by both former and new domain name owner. The expiration date remains unchanged.
