Your mother always told you that you'd never make a living on the stage and your father told you it wasn't "real" work (whatever that's supposed to mean) and maybe when you're agonizing in a roach-filled studio in Manhattan it sure doesn't feel like you'll ever really make it, not like you wanted, but when you feel the heat of that spotlight and the pattering of the applause, not matter how paltry and lackluster, you know that no matter what, you were always meant to be up there on those boards.
If you're one of those who know your place is on that stage, no matter how bad the tips or crummy the gig, we have good new for you: today, Friday May 15, we are promoting .actor,.band,.dance, and.rocks (normally $30.41, $28.84, $18.33 and $15.54, respectively).
Right now, you can register a new domain under one of these extensions for just $5.00!
Why not get your .webcam site online? Plan for summer events with your own .party domains?
Or show the world your new .science project? It's all possible now!
* It seems like a high ceiling, but these promotions are limited to 500,000 per extension total (whether through Gandi or not), so once that limit is reached, we won't be able to offer the promotion. In other words: While supplies last.
We're partnering with the .XYZ registry to benefit the excellent Read the Docs project. \o/
This month's featured project is ReadTheDocs, an open source project which hosts documentation (as well as allowing anyone to host their own), making it fully searchable and easy to find.
As in the past, the Registry is letting us have a great promo on all 1-year .XYZ domain creations, and we'll be joining forces with them to donate $1 for each new .XYZ registration to one of our favorite projects. Previous featured projects included Fight For the Future, FreeBSD, or Creative Commons, EFF and OpenHatch.
Until the end of May, new .XYZ domains can be registered at only $2.50 instead of the usual $13.63 excl. VAT.
(On a related note, Write the Docs North America is happening on May 17-19, 2015 in Portland, Oregon, and is sure to be an amazing event. You can also donate to RTD directly at their website.)
This promo is valid through May 31, 2015.
Do you want to register a .XYZ?
Edit: This promo ends May 31, not June 30 as previously indicated.
As you surely know, .FR finally switched to multi-year registration on March 30th.
For those of you that are unaware, before that date, a .FR domain could only be registered for one year at a time. Currently, like the large majority of extensions, a .FR domain can be registered for up to 10 years.
In order to celebrate this very good news, during the entire month of May, we are providing you with a promo of .FR domains for 5 years or more, with a yearly price of €9 excl. VAT versus the usual €12 under A rates. For a .FR domain registered for 10 years, for example, this would come to €90 instead of €120 excl. VAT. Note that this promo is only valid for A and B rates.
And for those that already have their .FR domain, if you want to renew it for 5 or more years, you can use the promo code FR5PLUS which will give you a 10% discount on the total price.
Of course these two promos are ALSO valid for the domains of the French overseas departments and territories: .RE (Reunion Island), .YT (Mayotte), .WF (Wallis and Futuna), .TF (French Southern and Antarctic Lands) et .PM (Saint Pierre and Miquelon).
Declared by the United Nations in 1993, World Press Freedom Day takes place Sunday May 3rd. It is a time to reflect on the basic fundamental principles of freedom of the press. It's also a chance to honor journalists in perilous situations across the globe as well as those who have lost their lives performing this critical role.
UNESCO will be holding a conference in Riga May 2 through 4, and this year's theme is "Let Journalism Thrive! Towards Better Reporting, Gender Equality, & Media Safety in the Digital Age," a topic as important to us as it should be to any world citizen.
Our friends at the Electronic Freedom Foundation will be there, and will participate in a panel titled "Internet Intermediaries’ Roles in Fostering Freedom of Expression," which will talk about the Manila Principles.
In honor of World Press Freedom Day 2015, Gandi is happy to offer .PRESS domains for $15.00 per year (for a one-year domain creation) all month, until midnight Paris time, May 31.
Tuesday May 5 (in addition to being Cinco de Mayo) is a suitably related day, since .NEWS, enters the Sunrise phase, offering yet another opportunity to show your support for journalism.
The registry, Uniregistry, is having a special promo of 50% off 6 of its new extensions (prices expressed excl. VAT for one year):
