New gTLD .lol now entering Sunrise

Laugh all you want at .lol, the new extension entering the Sunrise phase, but in all seriousness, we’re concerned about this one. Here are some quick worrying statistics:

FACT: Literally dozens of people are run over by lollerskates each year.

FACT: The controversial US Air Force roflcopter program, before it was shutdown, cost taxpayers millions of cents per year.

FACT: The stray lolcat population since 2006 has exponentially increased, threatening native species such as the endangered jk-sparrow and btw-breasted seagull.

While the introduction of .lol to the sphere of gTLDs does not directly threaten to reproduce these sobering results, we feel it is our duty to warn against the potentially hazardous side-effects of this three-letter acronym.

Okay now that you’ve been warned, we can tell you that if you want to forego the risks (and have a trademark), you can register one in the Sunrise phase for $334.98 a year at A rates. Otherwise, laugh on the inside only until August 11 when .lol enters the GoLive phase and you can purchase one without a trademark for one year for $20.87 at A rates.

Remember, the Sunrise phase is on a first-come, first-served basis and is for TMCH-registered trademark holders. Contact our corporate support team if you have a TMCH-registered trademark (or would like help registering your existing trademark at TMCH) in order to register one of these new gTLDs during Sunrise. If you are not among the trademarked, you can still pre-register for the GoLive phase. We’ll submit your order at the earliest possible moment – as soon as your chosen phase begins – for the best chance of success.
